World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City Unveils Main Visual and Medals New Visual Design Symbolizes Everlasting Glory
113-09-26
With only eight months to go until the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City (WMG 2025), Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an and New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih unveiled the event's new visual identity and the symbolic medals at the Taipei Songshan Cultural and Creative Park today. The visual system embodies the event's five core values: “Twin Cities, Sustainability, Technology, Unity, and Popularization”. The medal design, incorporating imagery from both host cities and featuring radiating lines, represents the boundless enthusiasm of master athletes, capturing the event's theme: “SPORTS beyond AGE, LIFE without LIMITS”. Medal designer Frank Jiang, main visual creative director Mark Chang, and visual designer Eddie Teng were present to explain the design concepts, creating a lasting impression of the World Masters Games.
Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an emphasized that sustainable development is a shared global concern, and the WMG 2025 aims to be a leader in sustainability. To achieve this goal, the WMG 2025 is committed to using eco-friendly materials and methods for the production of award items. For example, the medal ribbons are made from a mix of recycled coffee grounds and fibers from discarded sportswear. The medal boxes, trays, and podiums are crafted from natural materials, while the logo on the podiums is created using 3D-printed bioplastic, showcasing the potential for combining sports events with environmental friendliness. The dynamic blue and purple lines on the medal ribbons, combined with the event's minimalistic logo, present a modern and stylish look. The butterfly-wing design on the medals echoes the WMG 2025’s emblem, symbolizing the shared passion and vitality of the two cities as they welcome master athletes to Taiwan for a celebration of sporting excellence.
New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih highlighted that a compelling visual identity is key to embedding the spirit of a sports event in people's minds. A systematic, modular approach will be applied to venue decor, event documents, and the official website, conveying the WMG’s spirit, ideals, and values to strengthen overall recognition. Medals, representing years of dedication and training for athletes, also reflect the identity of the host cities and the enduring values conveyed by the WMG. Mayor Hou stressed that, as the WMG 2025 is co-hosted by New Taipei and Taipei, the medal design combines symbols from both cities—the iconic Queen's Head rock formation of Yehliu and Taipei 101-along with radiating lines to symbolize their joint commitment to excellence.
The World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City will feature competitions in 35 sports categories, including nine para-athletics divisions.
