IMGA delegation visit Taiwan, Commend the Capability of Host Cities in Host International Mega Sports Event

The World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City is set to take place from May 17 to May 30, 2025. Recently, Jens V Holm, CEO of the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), along with IMGA Director of Sports Samantha Hayward and Communications Director Kirsty Van Peer, conducted a five-day visit to Taiwan for a series of meetings and site inspections. Mr. Holm praised the precise and swift administrative performance of Taipei and New Taipei City, their promotional marketing skills, and the level of public engagement. He expressed great optimism and is eagerly looking forward to a successful and grand staging of Asia's first-ever World Masters Games.
On May 23, Jens V Holm, Samantha Hayward, and Kirsty Van Peer of the IMGA delegation held a series of four meetings at the Taipei Municipal Stadium with the executive office of the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei and government representatives from Taipei and New Taipei City. The discussions focused on the progress of preparations, competition affairs, plans for the Welcome and Farewell ceremonies, and related marketing strategies.
Mr. Holm noted that the enthusiastic and rapid registration seen in Taiwan is unparalleled in the history of the World Masters Games. He commended the precise and efficient administration, effective promotional marketing, and strong public engagement shown by both Taipei and New Taipei City and expressed confidence in the successful and impressive launch of the World Masters Games in Asia. He also extended the gratitude of IMGA President and legendary Athlete Sergey Bubka, to Taipei and New Taipei City for their committed efforts in planning the event and the advancement of the preparations.
The executive office also accompanied the IMGA delegation on various site visits to experience the comprehensive public transportation plans designed for the event. They traveled by MRT and train to Fulong Beach for the WMG 2025 sailing test event and cycled on the Old Caoling Circular Bikeway, enjoying the stunning views of the North Coast. Additionally, they immersed themselves in the famous local Taiwanese night market culture at Taipei’s Raohe Street Tourist Night Market and enjoyed the spectacular performances of the 2024 Taipei Water Dance Festival. Subsequent visits included the Cihu Memorial Sculpture Park in Taoyuan, the Daxi Tea Factory, and Xiaowulai, along with inspections of sports facilities like the Longtan Sports Park for hockey, baseball, and softball, and the Taoyuan Qingpu slow-pitch softball field. The overall itinerary, which blended sports events with tourism, closely aligned with the objectives of the World Masters Games, showcasing Taiwan’s capability to host maga sports events and highlighting the island's rich natural beauty and cultural heritage to the IMGA.
