On May 9, 2024, the mascot Strong for the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City made its debut. Are you familiar with “Strong's” origin story?

The World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City marks the first time the event has used a text-based mascot, highlighting its commitment to innovation. By personifying the Chinese character “北(north)” into a mascot, the event seeks to foster global connections and share the unique cultural significance.

“Strong's” design is inspired by the Chinese character “北(north),” symbolizing the shared prosperity and unity of the two host cities, Taipei and New Taipei. The intersecting colors on “Strong's” body represent the collaboration, dialogue, and consensus achieved between the cities during the planning of the event. The lightning-shaped “S” on Strong's head signifies an ever-present energy, reflecting the event's theme of sports beyond age and life without limits.

The name “Strong” was chosen for its phonetic similarity to the World Masters Games 2025, while the Chinese name “Zhuang Bao (壯寶)” was selected from numerous public suggestions and finalized by Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an and New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih.
“Strong” is a sports spirit born in Taipei and New Taipei city that converts the energy it absorbs from people exercising into a deep sense of accomplishment and happiness, which it then shares with those engaged in physical activity.

“Strong” will be cheering on the athletes across cities and is eagerly looking forward to the WMG 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City! We welcome sports lovers from around the globe to register and join Strong in experiencing the joy and rewards of sports!
