經World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City (WMG2025) has distinguished itself among 11,000 entries from 66 countries, earning one of the world’s most prestigious design accolades-the German iF Design Award. This recognition not only enhances the significance of the WMG2025 medals but also ensures that every athlete standing on the podium is celebrated both for their sporting excellence and for receiving a globally recognized design masterpiece.
The iF Design Award, alongside the Red Dot Award (Germany) and the IDEA Award (USA), is considered one of the top three international design competitions. Covering fields such as product design, communication design, architecture, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI), the competition is judged by a panel of renowned international experts who evaluate submissions based on innovation, functionality, aesthetics, and social impact. The 2025 edition of the iF Design Award attracted over 11,000 submissions from 66 countries, making this achievement particularly significant as the first-ever World Masters Games to be hosted in Asia.
The award-winning sustainable award ceremony system was developed by LF Design under the guidance of the WMG2025 branding team. Embodying the core principles of sustainability, the system integrates eco-friendly materials in various aspects: the medal ribbons are made from a mix of recycled coffee grounds and fibers from discarded sportswear. The medal boxes, trays, and podiums are crafted from natural materials, while the logo on the podiums is created using 3D-printed bioplastic, aligns with the iF Design Award’s emphasis on sustainable development. The iF design Award 2025 ceremony will take place in Berlin, Germany, on April 28, where the winning design team and representatives will attend to celebrate this significant achievement.
Beyond its award-winning design, WMG2025 continues to advance sustainability initiatives, integrating environmental action, health and well-being, social advocacy, and economic impact into its event planning, Measures include the use of eco-friendly materials for merchandise and uniforms, rental-based competition equipment, and public transportation promotion, reinforcing WMG2025 commitment to sustainability.
